I HOPE the Lake Macquarie City Council parking officers are happy about the number of parking fines they issue.

They fined my wife and I when we were left stranded in our stalled car recently.
I am approaching my 79th birthday, and my wife is not well. And for all anybody knew, we could have been suffering a medical emergency in our car that day.
Our car's engine stalled. I did not stop illegally - I had no alternative.
And it was not the first time this has happened as our fully electronic car has more electronic parts than a 747.
We could not fix the problem with the car even if we wanted to. We would have needed the knowledge of the NRMA road service staff, or to have it towed to the nearest garage, while we attempted to get back to our Department of Housing residence at Blackalls Park.
I had the engine fixed by a mobile mechanic on the front lawn of my daughter's home.
Despite sending as much evidence as possible, the State Debt Recovery Office did not believe anything.
I have now been threatened by them that if I do not pay the $236 fine they will add another $65 and pursue me.
