ONE Eastlakes trio has clocked up more than 90 years of community service between them.
Last month, the three women were recognised by the Belmont Hospital's Pink Ladies for their dedication with life memberships.
Like most volunteers, Fay Kafer of Belmont North with 34 years service, Angela Scott of Blacksmiths with 30 years, and Billie McCord of Tingira Heights with 30 years, were humble about their dedication to the hospital's patients.
Mrs Kafer said helping people was very satisfying.
She was surprised and honoured to receive the life membership.
"I don't do it to expect anything in return," she said.
Mrs Scott said she enjoyed giving back to the community, and her greatest reward was when "someone says thank you".
"It's become a way of life."
"I don't know what it would be like without the Pink Ladies," she said.
The three agreed they enjoyed their volunteer work, the friendships made over the years and working with hospital's staff and patients.
Their duties are patient-focused and include looking after flowers, washing clothes when no family is nearby, tidying rooms and stopping for a chat.
They also raise funds for the hospital through raffles, cake drives and their shop where they sell handicrafts and books.
Belmont Hospital general manager Debbie Kirchner said the Pink Ladies added personality, one-on-one personal care and were part of the hospital's culture.
