The 20-year-old, in her fourth year with the Newcastle Knights, has qualified for the grand final after collecting more votes than West Tigers cheerleader Amelia Barton in the round of 14.
If she wins the overall prize, Tayla will have gone one better than her older sister, Brittany Doran, and emulated the feat of former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins, who won in 2001.
‘‘I was pretty excited when I found out I was in the grand final,’’ Tayla said.
‘‘There is only seven girls left now and I think I have a pretty good chance, a lot of people from Newcastle have been supporting me.’’
Voting for the grand final closes at midnight on Monday .
