VIDEO: With the launch of Big Brother and Underbelly: Badness, Channel Nine has held on to their audience post-Olympics, while Ten started on a low note with their new show, Everybody Dance Now.
CRIME drama has proved more popular than reality television with Underbelly topping the ratings in Newcastle on Monday night.
Underbelly Badness, which is the fifth instalment of the Australian crime mini-series, claimed an average of 107,000 viewers in the Newcastle region beating the new series of Big Brother which was watched by an average of 98,000 people.
The Nine Network’s Olympics Games coverage may be over but the station has continued to strike gold in the ratings.

Regional affiliate NBN claimed the top four spots on Monday with NBN news and A Current Affair placing third and fourth respectively.
Underbelly Badness is based on underworld figure Anthony ‘‘Badness’’ Perish, played by Jonathan LaPaglia, and also stars Matt Nable as police strike force leader Inspector Gary Jubelin.
Big Brother, which has been revived by Nine after a four-year absence, will introduce a further two housemates tonight and tomorrow night bringing the total to 14 contestants.
The Newcastle results were in line with ratings results across Australia.
