EASTWOOD colts coach and corporate high flyer Andrew Fairfull is the new general manager of the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union.
Fairfull was appointed on Friday and will start on January 12.
He takes over from Fenton Coull, who has acted in a caretaker role since the sudden resignation of Shelley Youman in September.
Youman had occupied the position for less than four months after the retirement on Coull.
Fairfull is relocating from Sydney but is familiar with the Newcastle and the Rugby Union scene.
After attending school at Shore, he completed a commerce degree at the University of Newcastle, played for Wanderers, and represented Hunter at under-19 and under-21 level.
As well as a strong business resume, Fairfull has extensive coaching experience.
He had been head of Eastwood Colts program and Sydney North West’s Australia Gold program and has previously worked with Warringah colts.
On the business front, Fairfull has been general manager for a specialist health services company and held similar position for a number of Washington H Soul Pattinson entities.
