Lake Macquarie MP Greg Piper joined members of the club to present the awards to Alan Caldwell, who also accepted an award on behalf of co-worker Jeanette Holmes, who was unable to attend the ceremony.
The two volunteers were nominated for the awards by club official Linda O'Connor, who said they had been involved with the club for the past four years and had made invaluable contributions.
"These two are always the first to put up their hands to help run and organise the canteen," Ms O'Connor said.
"Their involvement in the canteen's operation is crucial to the successful running of the club's regattas and weekly events."
Mr Piper said Alan and Jeanette were typical of the many seniors in the Lake Macquarie area who offered their time and skills freely to help.
"The community would be much poorer without the contributions of people like Alan and Jeanette who, instead of waiting for someone else to do the jobs that need doing, just roll up their sleeves and get stuck into it themselves," Mr Piper said.
