They had no idea those demos would lead to a recording deal let alone become nationwide hits.
Fast forward 30 years and The Choirboys are still entertaining crowds.
"We bloody love it, it's so much fun being in this band," Gable said.
"Choirboys is exactly the kind of band that I always wanted to be in as a kid, so why not keep on doing it till you die?"
They will perform at Morisset Country Club next Friday, May 29.
Founding members Gable, Ian Hulme and Lindsay Tebbutt will be joined by another mainstay of the band, guitarist Brett Williams.
Together they will pump out crowd favourites such as Boys Will Be Boys, Struggle Town, and Never Gonna Die.
And it wouldn't be a Choirboys show without one of Australia's unofficial anthems, Run To Paradise.
■ The Choirboys show kicks off at Morisset Country Club on Friday, May 29, at 8pm. Tickets: $25. Phone 4973 1100.
