On Tuesday, November 3, residents awoke to find their homes, cars and even local businesses had been vandalised overnight.
The graffiti spread from parts of Morpeth to Raworth and Tenambit.
CCTV footage was handed to police and as a result of the community's help police were able to identify the two juveniles.
On Wednesday, November 4, about 4pm the two males were arrested and charged with 29 offences under the Graffiti Control Act 2008.
This means the juveniles, who would usually be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act, will appear in court.
The two males face fines, up to six months jail time or could be ordered by the court to perform community service work including graffiti removal.
"I can't praise the community enough for their prompt reporting and feedback," Central Hunter acting crime manager Acting Detective Inspector Mitch Dubojski said.
"These charges are a direct result of the public's help."
PREVIOUS REPORT
Fire fighters and East Maitland Rotary members helped clean up the graffiti on Tuesday.
"It was wonderful," KLR Accounting owner Kristie Rose said.
"Two gentlemen in particular worked their way through the Tenambit shops to clean up.
"One was a client of ours and one man was just having a coffee at the coffee shop and decided to jump in and lend a hand.
"When people saw what had happened we were also inundated with messages."
Most residents and shopkeepers have since cleaned up the graffiti, but police are investigating further offences.
Police have appealed to the public to report any vandalism to their property, especially if it is linked with the graffiti rampage on Tuesday.
