The Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise staged the annual event on Lake Macquarie at Speers Point Park.
“In the outriggers, we had some families entered, with granddad, dad, mum and a couple of kids all having fun together,” the Rotary club’s Graeme Hooper said.
“And seeing people having a good time is what it’s all about.”
Paddlefest features events for a range of craft.
The number of entries in the kayak races was down on previous years because Paddlefest clashed with a Kayak NSW regetta in Canberra.
“But overall it was excellent, and for once we had good weather,” Mr Hooper said.
The stand-up paddle board races were popular, with some parents teaming up with their children in the relays.
But it was the dragon boat races that again attracted the most interest from spectators.
“I certainly enjoy watching the dragon boats which are always so competitive and colourful,” Mr Hooper said.
About 160 scouts also impressed with their dragon boat-making skills, combining milk crates, lengths of bamboo and plastic wrap to create their crafts.
About $13,000 was raised for four local charities, Mr Hooper said.
