The 21-year-old former Western Sydney Wanderers and Central Coast Mariners right back signed a two-year deal on Wednesday, bringing a successful end to a three-week trial.
The Blacktown junior made two A-League appearance for the Mariners in 2015-16 and was sideline for most of last season due to a knee reconstruction.
As it stands, Adelson has filled one of three final places which had been available for visa players.
However, teenage centreback Daniel Alessi has been given permission to talk to other clubs, which could open another position.
“Jake is underdone but he has showed enough signs for us to be a worthwhile of signing as a fullback,” coach Ernie Merrick said. “He has good pace, good technical ability and we are very happy with him.”
Adelson played 45 minutes in the Jets’ 2-0 loss to the Mariners in a closed-door trial on Wednesday which followed an eye-catching performance off the bench in a 5-1 win over Broadmeadow Magic last week.
“We needed another defensive player,” Merrick said. “We have good centrebacks and needed another fullback. Jake slots in really well. We are starting to get a bit of depth around the squad.”
Chinese trialist Zhu Zhengyu played the final 30 minutes against the Mariners but had limited opportunities.
The Jets are also in talks with a South American attacking midfielder.
