The fair attracts hundreds of locals annually, and features an array of original paintings, gourmet foods, pottery, clothing, jewellery, patchwork quilts and ornaments.
It is presented by Anglican Care Auxiliary who are celebrating their 60th year in 2017.
The fair opens to the public at 2.30pm, with the official opening by Lake Macquarie mayor Kay Fraser at 5pm at Anglican Care Village, Booragul.
The clever and crafty members of the Anglican Care Auxiliary have been busily preparing for months with president Beryl Brownlow herself busy putting cakes in the oven on Wednesday morning.
“There are 40 members of the auxiliary and we are predominantly 80 and above but we love what we do,” Ms Brownlow said.
“In particular I love the strong friendships I’ve made over the 30 years I’ve been involved as well as being able to give back to the community and our aged community.
“We really need to start getting new volunteers but in the world we all live in that is becoming increasingly hard with the demands on grandparents to assist in parenting. Volunteering is so beneficial to the soul and we would welcome anyone who wants to join us,” she said.
More than 100 exhibitors will showcase their handcrafted wares.
A feature will be the Christmas stall.
The Art and Craft Fair features demonstrations as well as an impressive art display with works from more than 40 local artists. These works are all available for sale.
There will also be raffles, Devonshire teas and light lunches available throughout the weekend.
Anglican Care CEO Colin Osborne said he was looking forward to the event.
“The work of the auxiliary is nothing short of amazing. This extremely dedicated group of individuals go to great lengths for this annual exhibition and I know it is highly anticipated among the Anglican Care residents, consumers and families as well as the wider community,” Mr Osborne said.
Proceeds from the event assist Anglican Care’s facilities and programs.
Anglican Care’s CA Brown Village is on Toronto Road, Booragul.
