It’s back to work for me this week, but I imagine many of you will still be enjoying the summer break, making the most of quality time with family and friends.
Lake Macquarie is very much a lifestyle city, and having good recreational infrastructure is important for the health and wellbeing of our community.
Lake Macquarie City Council is in the process of planning new facilities for the area from Belmont to Moonee to cater for expected growth of more than 7000 residents on the southeastern side of the City by 2030.
The $63.9 million infrastructure plan for community facilities includes an upgrade to Swansea Swim Centre, extension of the Fernleigh Track, a new surf club at Catherine Hill Bay, refurbishment of Belmont Library, as well as new sports fields, parks, playgrounds, dog exercise areas, community gardens, BMX tracks, cycleways and trails. The projects will be funded by Section 94 contributions, which are paid by developers to fund community facilities and infrastructure.
Among the facilities provided under the previous contributions plan were the new Swansea Multipurpose Centre and library upgrade, and netball courts at Belmont.
You can read more about the Belmont Catchment Development Contributions Plan and leave comments at http://shape.lakemac.com.au/belmont-contributions.
The plan will remain on display until 14 March 2018.
