LOCAL WIN Camel milk products have made a successful debut at the 2018 Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Produce competition. Camel Milk NSW, based at Muswellbrook, won silver for its camel milk and bronze for its camel milk halloumi.
WINE TIME It’s vintage time in the Hunter Valley and you’re invited. There is a Harvest Luncheon at Bimbadgen on March 3 where you can join winemaker Richard Done and his team for a tour of the estate. Also on March 3 is Stomp 2018 at Stomp Wines where you can crush grapes, learn about the wine making process and enjoy lunch catered by chef Matt Dillow. And on March 18 McLeish Estate hosts Wine To The Glass where you can pick and stomp grapes followed by barrel rolling.
BISTRO OPENS Caviars Retreat Bistro has opened at Belmont Hotel. It’s child-friendly and there is a daily specials board.
BARNABY BURGER This weekend only, you can sink your teeth into a Big Bad Barnaby at Burger Urge, Glendale. Burger Urge asked for a public vote on the burger, and the answer was yes. The burger fillings are red and the bun? Extra-red beetroot in colour. Egg may have to be scraped off the face.
DOORS CLOSED Vinyl Coffee House has “closed indefinitely”. Due to the “ongoing road closures throughout the CBD and Perkins Street now being partially closed … we are unable to maintain a steady stream of business and must call it a day. We have endured the madness for longer than we thought we possibly could and we are extremely proud of the amazing business we built from nothing.” A sad day for a good group of people and their customers.
