The free event, set to be held at the Carrington Community Centre on Tuesday, March 20, will boast various workshops that include emotional freedom techniques, hypnosis, breath-work and kinesiology.
Ms Crawford said the intent of the workshops on International Day of Happiness is to “provide an education, connection and experience”.
“It’s about connecting individuals who have had difficult backgrounds with the idea and the reality that you can actively seek increased levels of happiness through these and other means,” she said.
The event, Ms Crawford said, is mainly about reminding locals what’s really important by raising action and awareness.
“The attendees will get to experience a whole range of therapies that they may never have heard of, and they all have ways that improve happiness in every day life,” she said.
“This is such a critical message that countries are measuring it now, in some countries people look it at an alternative to a GDP measurement.
“We wanted to be able to provide a free gift to people who are not usually in a situation where they can source therapy or help for themselves through a number of different barriers. That’s what the event is about.”
Ms Crawford said the event, which will also boast five therapists, is simply about “becoming more happy in our lives”.
“Some parts of our lives are things we don’t have control over, but most of our life we do have control over it, and what we choose to do in those moments are how we create happiness,” she said.
“It’s a half-day event, it’s free and you’ll come out of the event with strategies to improve your world. I don’t know why you wouldn’t come.”
