Partnering with organisers Façon magazine, Chic Management will be looking for the Hunter’s next supermodel in the Kotara-hosted event, with budding models invited to attend the midday event.
Because it’s a development contract, anyone who’s interested is welcome in coming along, as long as they just bring “confidence”, Façon’s Lara Lupish said.
“Chic has never thrown any of their models in the deep end, they’re just trying to find someone to bring in on their development contract,” Ms Lupish explained.
“If you’re interested, just bring along your confidence – you don’t have to wear too much make-up or super sexy clothes or anything like that, it’s just about showing them who you are and why you want to be involved.
“It’s an exciting time for the Hunter because it means Sydney is beginning to take talent from here seriously. We want to show them there’s a passion for modelling here, and a desire for plenty of young women in the region to give it their best shot.”
The modelling agency has already had a number of big names in the fashion industry come through the doors, including Face of Façon ambassador Annalise McLachlan, international swimwear model Natalie Roser and Hollywood actor Isabelle Cornish.
There’s also plenty more potential and talent lying in wait in Newcastle, Chic general manager Paul Thomas explained, and he said they were heading to town looking for “healthy, active girls who can represent brands in positive lights”.
“We love that Newcastle offers such an active, outdoor lifestyle and we’re looking for girls who can reflect that commercially,” he said.
“The possibilities for girls who enter this competition are endless. Annalise [McLachlan] is currently working in LA for a major American fashion retailer and Natalie Roser has just wrapped her third Miami Swim Week appearance.
“All of these girls are aesthetically beautiful, but they also shine from the inside out and it is that extra star quality that makes them some of the countries most in-demand models. We’re looking for the “x factor” and believe Newcastle is the place to find it.”
The scouting event is the first step in the Face of Façon competition which will close on August 31. Once the finalists have been chosen, they will enter a final event to be held on October 6.
Prizes for the competition include a development contract with Chic, a test shoot in Sydney, an editorial shoot in the fifth release of Façon, 12 months of unlimited VIP movie passes to Event Cinemas and a $500 voucher to spend at Matthews Jewellers.
Chic’s scouting in the region will begin at The Rooftop on Saturday, August 18, with the first event running from 12pm to 1pm. For all information contact Claudia Liebenberg on 0405 766 875 or at claudia@faconaustralia.com.
