Young Newcastle Knights backrower Beau Fermor has capped off an outstanding debut season with the club by being named NSW Rugby League Jersey Flegg player of the year.
He picked up the Knights player of the year award in the Under 20’s only last week.
Knights coach Todd Lowrie said Fermor, who hails from Dalby in Queensland, has been a great addition to the club this season.
“He came here with some pretty high recommendations,” Lowrie said.
“He played a full season a year young last year for the Sunshine Coast and he came here and just did everything right in the off-season.
“He trained really hard and you could see he really wanted to improve himself. It has showed in his performances. He’s been good for us all season. He’s big, tall, fit and fast and runs a good line and has a really good fend.’’

Lowrie said his selection in the Queensland Under 20’s side earlier this season highlighted his development.
“That was pretty much the first representative team he has ever made so he was chuffed with that,” he said
“It sort of justifies his decision to come here and our decision to bring him in. He played six games in NSW Cup as well which is even more testament to him winning the player of the year.”
