A prisoner is on the run after he escaped from the minimum security section at Cessnock jail.
Just after 11am Friday police were informed that 18-year-old Jake Nunn had escaped the correctional facility at Cessnock.
It’s believed Nunn had been hiding in a skip bin before making his escape.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 170 centimetres tall, a thin build, with brown hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing green coloured shorts, and either a green t-shirt or jumper and joggers.
It is believed that he may be headed for Kurri Kurri or the Central Coast area.
Police are warning members of the public not to approach the man, but instead call Triple-0 immediately.
