Councillor David Belcher (Labor), was elected deputy mayor for the next 12 months at the Lake Macquarie City Council meeting on Monday night. Cr Belcher, a West Ward councillor, is in his first term on the council. The role of the deputy mayor is to represent the mayor or undertake mayoral duties when the mayor is unable to attend those duties. He replaces Cr Luke Cubis (LMIND) in the role.

Marmong Point wins event funding
LAKE Macquarie City Council this week approved funding for five community events. Marmong Point Sailing Club will receive $1520 for its Come and Try Watersports event at the Super Boat racing weekend of October 13 and 14. Warners Bay Chamber of Commerce will receive $10,000 for its Music in the Podium event on November 2. Catherine Hill Bay Bowling and Community Club will receive $4809 for its Farewell Catho Bowlo event on October 27. And Lake Macquarie Music Society will get $3750.
