The Lake Macquarie resident won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1142, drawn on Friday, October 12.
According to a NSW Lotteries official, the man discovered his win on Friday evening, just hours after the draw.
“We had a bottle of champagne to celebrate. We’re very, very happy,” he told the official.
“I went onto the Lott app and I’ve won a few small prizes before, but this said I had a big win. I thought maybe $500.
“But oh my god. Two hundred thousand dollars. We kept thinking it was a scam, but there it was.
“We’re so delighted.”
The regular Lucky Lotteries player admitted the win had come at an opportune time.
“The roof has been leaking and the car has blown a gasket. There’s a few things that need fixing around the place so this will come in very handy,” he said.
“I’m sure there’ll also be a holiday in there somewhere too.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his entry of four consecutive numbers at Warners Bay Newsagency.
Newsagency owner Neil Roberts said he was thrilled to welcome another Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize in his outlet.
“We’ve had a couple of Lucky Lotteries wins over the years. Mate, it was a nice feeling to see we’d done it again,” he said.
“Two hundred thousand dollars. It’s a good prize! It’s also great for the staff and customers to have some good news to talk about.”
