Liberal candidate for Lake Macquarie, Lindsay Paterson, welcomed the announcement.
“This is great news for local families. We are ensuring that we have the top-quality school facilities our students need now and into the future,” Mr Paterson said.
Education Minister Rob Stokes said the projects were another example of the state government delivering the school resources teachers and children deserved.
“We want our children to have the best opportunities and providing high-quality school facilities is essential,” Mr Stokes said.
The major upgrades to Speers Point and Wangi Wangi public schools were part of the government’s record $6 billion school building program to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools, he said.
The government had also committed "an unprecedented investment" to eliminate the school maintenance backlog, Mr Stokes said.
