Maya has always been a talented sportswoman. After a career in beach events with the Fingal Beach surf club where she won numerous sprint branch and state titles Maya graduated to rugby union.

Last year she played with Australia in the world school rugby sevens titles that Australia won in New Zealand. This year she was selected in the NSW Waratahs team.
And after a strong start with a 26-0 win over the Brumbies, Maya lined up against arch rival Queensland at Leichardt Oval and produced a stunning side-stepping try from 35 metres out to set the waratahs on to a good win 15-12.
