It's well known that there is always something happening in Lake Macquarie and it makes me very excited to see the calendar of events and festivals coming up for the remainder of the year. Beyond being a whole lot of fun, our local events provide vibrancy to our city, add to our incredible lifestyle and attract visitors to our region.

This week we added a new event to the calendar, the inaugural Belmont Beers, Blues and BBQ that will be held at Belmont South Foreshore on Saturday, May 25. It will be a celebration of craft beer, live music and delicious food that will add to our options in terms of night-time events in our city. We also know that these kind of events are popular right across the country, so hopefully with its success we can add it to the annual events calendar on a permanent basis.
Speaking of night-time events and activities, the draft Night-time Economy Action Plan is open for feedback at shape.lakemac.com.au. This draft action plan has been developed in response to a number of community consultations, where people told us that they would like more to do after dark in Lake Macquarie. A big part of council's focus is on the city's liveability, which is a major economic driver to attracting residents, businesses, events, investment and innovation. A healthy night-time economy will improve the liveability of Lake Macquarie. Have your say and share your feedback on the draft document.
