Colliers International are selling the 574.136 hectare site through expressions of interest on behalf of the New Wallsend Coal Co Pty Limited (NWCC).
National director of commercial sales at Colliers International Newcastle, Peter Macadam, said the NWCC site has been identified as an urban release area within strategic planning documents such as Newcastle's Western Corridor Urban Release Area, Lake Macquarie Council's Lifestyle 2030 Strategic Planning document, Imagine Lake Macquarie 2050 and the Greater Newcastle Metropolitan Plan.
"The NWCC site is the largest value-add opportunity offered to the market in recent history," Mr Macadam said. "The successful proponent will accept a great responsibility to plan and provide for the growing population of Greater Newcastle subject of course to future planning and development approvals."
Mr Macadam said interest in the Newcastle market was continuing to grow. Colliers transacted the adjoining site on behalf of Coal and Allied to Winten Property Group in 2015. Expressions of interest for the site close on August 8.

AUCTION ACTION
There has been "good interest" for a mixed use opportunity at 58-60 Hunter Street in Newcastle's East End being marketed by Commercial Collective with a guide around $1.5 million. It is set for auction at Novotel Newcastle on July 17.
"The building has 200 square metres of office space and two two-bedroom apartments above," agent Adam Leacy said. "One apartment is leased on a one-year lease, the other is rented out as AirBnb and the commercial space is vacant but has a full office fit-out."
