And work on the $4-million upgrade to Wyee Road is expected to be completed within weeks.
Lake Macquarie City Council's asset manager Helen Plummer said Wyee had a growing population and was a key part of the south-west growth area spanning from Cooranbong to Wyee.
"Southern Lake Macquarie's population continues to grow, and our ongoing investment in road infrastructure will help cope with this growth in years to come," Ms Plummer said.
"Over the past three years, we've spent more than $15 million improving Wyee's roads, with more works planned in the next four years."
Council is completing design investigations for the next stage of the Rutleys Road upgrade, towards the Government Road intersection near Wyee Point.
"We would like to thank the community for their ongoing patience throughout these construction works," Ms Plummer said.
Rutleys Road has a sad history of serious motor vehicle accidents.
Works on the next stage of upgrades to Rutleys Road and Wyee Road are expected to start in 2020.
Council is poised to spend more than $37.5 million on road works and traffic improvements in 2019-2020 across Lake Macquarie.
The Wyee Road upgrade is jointly funded by the state government and council.
