The Merewether teenager claimed his maiden Newcastle club championship, culminating with a stunning performance in the 36-hole match play final on Sunday, where he beat two-time winner Daniel Terry 10 and nine.
As well as the A-Grade championships, Ferrier was also crowned colts champion for a second time.
His win at Fern Bay capped a big weekend, after he had combined with Scott Telfer to win the Merewether foursomes championships.
Only 19, he has won four of the past five Merewether club championships and was the Pennant Hills club champion in 2014.
"I'm interested in doing a [professional] traineeship but I think I'm better to wait and play more amateur golf," Ferrier said. "This year I have been working to save a bit of money so I can travel and play the bigger events. The Australian Amateur, NSW Amateur and Avondale Amateur are on the list for January. The dream is to travel the world playing the sport you love. There are a lot of pathways to get to that spot. It's a matter of summing it up and working out what's best."
Ferrier was in control from the outset on Sunday and had an incredible nine-hole lead at the halfway point.
"Considering the occasion and pressure, it was probably the best I have played in years," he said. "I hit the driver long and straight. Then anything inside 10 feet, I don't think I missed a putt. I was in one of those zones where the hole looked like a bucket."
Ferrier had to choose between playing the final or representing Newcastle District against the ACT/Monaro in Canberra.
"At the start of the year the district sqaud made a commitment to play all the matches," Ferrier said. "When I was named in the team for the final match, I went to the club and said there was a clash and asked if could be moved. They stuck with the original schedule. It is the club's big day. I had to decide whether to go for an individual achievement or a team achievement. [District secretary] Rod Carruthers made it easy for me. He said we would rather you play at Newcastle. Just make sure you win."
It was a successful weekend for the Ferrier family, whose house overlooks the fifth green at Merewether.
Lukes father, Anthony, combined with Steve Abercrombie to win the nett section of the club foursomes.
