Baum, already a winner and runner-up in 1000-point contests this year, powered into round four at the 3000-point qualifying series event at Avoca with a two-wave total of 15.57.
The South African-born goofy-footer earned 7.5 and 8.07 scores inside her first three waves and seven minutes of her round three heat on Friday on the way to defeating Mikaela Greene (14.23), Ren Hashimoto (12.54) and Tia Blanco (0).
Baum next faces Ella Williams, India Robinson and Sara Wakita. She is the only Hunter surfer still in the women's contest after Corlette's Elle Clayton-Brown was last in her round three heat.
Baker is the only Hunter male surfer left in the event after Redhead's Connor Lee was last in his round four heat.
Baker survived a close four-way battle to book a meeting with Nat Young, Koda Killorn and Rafael Teixeira in round five.
The natural-footer from Merewether scored 11.43 in round four to finish second to Shane Holmes (15.23) and progress just in front of Kei Kobayashi (11.4) and Yuji Mori (11.2).
