The Roos, who returned to Newcastle RL last month after the Central Coast campaign was cancelled, have now completed a perfect opening round by coming from behind to narrowly defeat Cessnock in a top-of-the-table clash at Morry Breen Oval on Sunday.
Tries to Cody Boyle and Aaiden Wright in the closing 10 minutes helped Wyong get across the line, downing the Goannas 20-18 and extending their winning streak to six straight games.
This means the Roos have accounted for every opposing team this season with successive victories against Western Suburbs (8-4), Souths (24-19), Maitland (26-18), Central (22-6) and Lakes (20-6).
"I think it gives everyone confidence," Williams said.
"To be in that sort of position after six weeks is good and we're really enjoying it.
"Now we want to perform in those important games at the end of the season."
Wyong (14) are now four points clear of Cessnock (10) on the ladder.
Goannas coach Todd Edwards said "we were our own worst enemy" but conceded "we were beaten by a better side".
Cessnock had led 12-0 but the margin was reduced to six by half-time. Wyong levelled proceedings before the Goannas nudged ahead again. The Roos then crossed for back-to-back tries.
Elsewhere on Sunday and a hat-trick for Lakes hooker Nash Birch saw the Seagulls overcome Central 30-18 at St John Oval.
Souths thrashed the Pickers 68-0 at Maitland Sportsground on Saturday.
Wests had the bye and are down to meet Central at St John Oval on Sunday in the only game scheduled for this weekend.
LADDER: Wyong 14; Cessnock, Souths 10; Wests 8; Lakes, Central 6; Maitland 2.
