The Scone stayer, a four-year-old Redoute's Choice mare, made it four wins in six starts with a two and a half-length victory in the benchmark 66 handicap over 1750 metres. Her previous wins were at Scone before two unplaced efforts in town.
"We always thought she was a nice stayer, it was just up to her to prove it," Messara stable representative Leah Gavranich told Sky Racing.
"It looked like she handled that [soft] ground really comfortably today.
"Hopefully she gets stronger as the trip gets further. A lightly raced mare, she still has a big future."
Messara was unlucky not to have a double with Akasawa in the last, a benchmark 58 (1450m). The $2.90 favourite was squeezed out between runners in the straight but recovered to finish just a quarter of a length behind Mabel Josephine.
Five-year-old mare Mabel Josephine scored her first win for Scone trainer Sam Kavanagh at her second start since moving from South Australia.
"She was stiff last time, she missed the kick half a length and got squeezed from the inside and outside and just lost her position," Kavanagh said of her second place last start at Muswellbrook.
"She made an 800m run last start and I just said to [jockey] Simon [Price] today I'll leave it up to him.
"He didn't have a horse outside him today so it was just a matter that she bounced a bit better and he took the initiative to roll across rather than wait."
Wyong trainer Kristen Buchanan scored a double with Pandora Blue and Oakfield Hiawatha, while the Cameron Crockett-trained Pure Fuego showed he was a potential Country Championships horse with his win.
