Wilson was one of Bears' best in 2019 after coming to the Northern NSW NPL club from the Central Coast.
At the end of that season, when the Bears narrowly missed the finals, Wilson travelled with then-Weston coach Kew Jaliens to the Netherlands for trials at FC Den Bosch then AZ Alkmaar.
A gluteal muscle tear ended his stint after a month and he returned to Weston for the 2020 pre-season. However, during the delayed start to the year because of COVID-19, Wilson's season was wiped out by a motorbike accident at the Somersby farm where he lives.
"I was just mucking around with the boys one day and I came off the bike and broke my femur," Wilson said.
"It took 11 months to come good. It's only just hit a year now since the accident and I'm 100 per cent now, and I'm just glad I'm back playing."
Working back to match fitness, Wilson has come off the bench twice. He also missed two weeks suspended but he scored Weston's goal in a 3-1 loss to Lake Macquarie on Saturday night in a sign he is rediscovering his 2019 form.
The 22-year-old barber is driven to help Weston crack the top five this campaign and also put himself back in the mix for another shot at higher honours.
"It's still the dream, to go play overseas or play professionally anywhere really, but I've just got to prove a point again in the league, bang in goals and just play well," he said.
