Olympic, making their first appearance in the main draw of the national knockout, went down to Macarthur Bulls on a windswept evening.
Magic had lost to Western Sydney Wanderers by the same scoreline three days earlier in torrential rain at the ground.
Both Hunter teams had a month to prepare for the games after two months without football because of the COVID lockdown, while the A-League sides have had extensive pre-seasons preparing for next week's opening round.
On Saturday, Macarthur led 2-0 at half-time after late goals to Aleksandar Jovanovic (39th minute) and Lachie Rose (41st).
Olympic had scrambled well in defence, often with no players up the pitch, and keeper Adam Pearce had also shown his class.
The former Mariners gloveman pulled off a great save to deny a shot from Craig Noone early then was full stretch to knock a quality strike from Ulises Davila around the woodwork in the 38th minute.
However, Jovanovic opened the scoring from the ensuing corner, directing a long-range header back across Pearce and inside the right post.
The Bulls extended their advantage soon after when Noone, who had hit several crosses from the right side, finally found his mark in the windblown conditions.
Rose drifted in between defenders at the far post and scored with his header from close range.
Rose then made it a double with another far-post header off a Noone cross in the 61st minute, this time hitting it back across Pearce from further out.
Olympic had few chances but their best moments came when captain Rhys Cooper was just wide with a shot in the seventh minute and Luke Vallone had a chance knocked past the post in the 78th.
They were without attacking players Jed Hornery and Dino Fajkovic because of injury.
