The 2020 festival was cancelled due to the global pandemic, and while it went ahead last year, the show and shine was called off, after wet weather the weekend prior caused poor conditions at Kurri Sportsground (where it had been moved in order to keep a cap on crowd numbers).
Neath resident Shaun Evans is among those registered for the show and shine, bringing his 1962 Holden EK Special along on both days of the festival.
He bought the car in August 2020, so it's the first opportunity he has had to enter it in the Kurri Kurri festival's competition.
IN THE NEWS
"I have always been an old car enthusiast. I love vintage cars that were built to last, have character and say something about the time," he said. "This is the type of car I've always wanted - I saved up for two-and-a-half years and travelled seven hours (to Yenda, near Griffith) to get it."
Mr Evans is the Holden's fourth owner in 60 years. A "keystarter", not a project, the car has its original 138 Grey motor, an old generator (which was used prior to alternators), no seat belts and no power steering.
Vehicles of any make or model that pre-date 1978 can be entered in the show and shine.
Towns With Heart community projects manager Jane Fowler said the show and shine is sure to be a highlight of this year's festival alongside
Ms Fowler said another highlight of the 2022 festival will be the return of dancing, which wasn't permitted under last year's COVID-10 public health restrictions.
