The Northstars are celebrating two decades in the Australian Ice Hockey League, kick starting with a home game against the Melbourne Mustangs at Warners Bay on Saturday (5:30pm).
And it comes after the previous two national competitions (2020, 2021) were cancelled because of COVID.
"Twenty years is so hard to believe, especially after the last two years," Northstars founder and general manager Garry Dore said.
Dore recalls the birth of the Northstars in 2002, winning the first of a record six Goodall Cups the following season.
This year Liam Manwarring takes over the captaincy from long-serving skipper Robert Malloy, who continues with the Northstars but is poised to join the reforming Central Coast Rhinos in 2023.
Daniel Berno will be one of two imports, debuting in round one before Francis Drolet returns next week.
