Just after 7pm yesterday (Thursday, November 30), emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash along the Pacific Highway, Woodburn, about 35km south of Lismore.
The driver of one of the vehicles - a 39-year-old man - was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.
The 23-year-old male driver of the second vehicle was taken to Lismore Base Hospital by paramedics in a critical but stable condition.
Officers from Richmond Police District established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
