In Lake Macquarie anglers have been catching some nice mixed bags of flathead and the odd mulloway on soft plastics.
The bait ball action is starting to heat up around Pulbah Island. Tailor have been hunting the bait balls while the big bream happily sit below picking up the scraps.
If you are heading to the southern part of the lake, toss in a few witches hats as there are some crabs moving about. If calamari is more to your liking, head out to Moon Island or the kelp beds towards Caves Beach with a brace of squid jigs.
The Hunter's beaches have been fishing well once again producing mixed catches of tailor, bream, mulloway and salmon.
Working the tides and moon phases has been the key to success off the sand.
Rock hoppers are having some fun with breams and black drummers caught on baits and tailor on metal spinning lures.
At the inshore reefs snapper, teraglin, bream, flathead and mulloway have been caught.
