Crewed by John Hodda and Dale and Tracey Jacobson, Miss Marlene placed second in the heat, but won the series scratch trophy ahead of the defending champion Wrecker.
It was a big win for the locals, as Sydney skiff Wrecker placed first in the heat and was sailed by current NSW and Australian champion Michael Chapman.
Events spokesperson Col Gillespie said the conditions were ideal on Sunday and set the stage for a tightly contested battle, with five skiffs with a chance to win the title.
"The series was wide open with three skiffs winning heats. The final result came down to the last race," Gillespie said.
"The very close racing saw up to six skiffs side by side, with big kites up contesting the lead."
The handicap championship series was another close finish with Lake Macquarie skiff Kismet, skippered by Michael Turton and Tim and Hugh Dodds, taking home the title by a point.
