The Newcastle 26-year-old became an ambassador for Alzheimer’s Australia NSW after her grandfather, Gordon Erskin, died two years ago of the condition.
“We saw the decrease in him remembering things quite quickly, and it got quite extreme in the end that he wouldn’t be able to speak and function,” Poolman said.

All Memory Walk proceeds go to the Hunter Dementia and Memory Resource Centre.
Around 1400 people turned out for this year’s event.
