Lake Macquarie City Council’s community planning manager, John Ferguson, said crews would now focus their efforts on completing the Lake Street plaza and foreshore terrace.
“During construction, pedestrian access will be maintained along the foreshore; however, sections will be closed off to the public,” Mr Ferguson said.
“The Warners Bay jetty will also be out of action while the next section is complete.
“With the Lake Mac Big Weekend coming up on October 14 and 15, we’re predicting the upgraded Warners Bay foreshore will be an ideal vantage point to watch the superboats as they race around the lake.”
The works at Warners Bay have involved.-
- 65m of sandstone walls;
- 3700-square-metres of concrete, including a blue pavement section with a glow-in-the-dark additive to represent the lake;
- 6500 square metres of new turf;
- 500 square metres of new garden beds; and
- 30 park benches.
