The incident occurred between 4am and 4.30am on Friday when NSW police patrolling the area detected a Holden Cruze sedan with five people inside on Wilkinson Avenue at Birmingham Gardens. Officers attempted to pull the car over, but a pursuit was initiated.
Police allege the chase reached speeds of up to 140 kilometres per hour before it came to a stop in McCubbin Close, Metford. A 16-year-old boy, another male and a female fled the stolen vehicle and escaped into nearby bushland.
Two boys were tracked down by police dog and were taken to Waratah Police Station. A female surrendered herself to police shortly after fleeing. Charges were expected to be laid on Friday morning.
Police are still hunting for two females and have urged residents with information to contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or Waratah Police Station on 4926 6599.
