The two heritage listed buildings – Newcastle Technical College and Trades Hall – which were constructed between 1894 and 1896 respectively – will be returned to their former glory as part of the Finance Minister’s Stonework Program.
The program is to safeguard the state’s oldest sandstone buildings and also preservethe specialist skills and expertise required to perform intricate maintenance work.
A team of stonemasons from the Government’s Heritage Stoneworks department will use sandstone harvested from Pyrmont.
