THERE will be no raucous sounds of punk and metal emanating from the Lower Belford bush this January after Dashville announced the cancellation of Thrashville.
For the past two years Thrashville has been held in late January, hosting the likes of Frenzal Rhomb and The Cosmic Psychos. However, Dashville organisers plan to shift the festival away from the summer months due to the potential risks to punters attending a bush festival, especially during a drought.
“We’re still working out exactly when, but it's likely not to be January, due to the increasing dangers posed by extreme heat and dry conditions in the bush at that time of the year,” the statement said.
“It’s also evident that January appears to be a tricky time of year to which some rockers can commit to a party in the bush.”
Meanwhile, Dashville have announced their premier event, The Gum Ball, is scheduled for April 25 to 28 next year.
