HOME BOYS Rapidly-rising Newcastle pop-punk band Trophy Eyes are headed home on Australia Day for a triumphant return to the Cambridge Hotel. It’s been a wild second half of 2018 for the five-piece since the release of their third album The American Dream, which spawned the triple j favourites You Can Count On Me and Friday Forever. Next Thursday Trophy Eyes begin their month-long US tour in Los Angeles, so expect them to be running hot for their January 26 show.

BUTTERED UP Aussie hip-hop royalty Butterfingers will celebrate the 15th anniversary of their 2004 breakthrough album Breakfast At Fatboys next year with a massive national tour. You can hear classic tracks like Yo Mama, Everytime, Hook Up and I Love Work when Butterfingers perform at the Cambridge Hotel on March 15.
LONG CRAWL Acclaimed singer-songwriter James Reyne will bring his acoustic Crawl To You Now tour to the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on May 11. The set list will feature re-imagined versions of Australian Crawl classics.
FUTURE NOW Newcastle Hotel at Islington will host the first leg of the Red Bull Music Bright Futures next Saturday. While unfortunately Newcastle missed out on Perth headliner Pond, the show will feature Sydney producer Kilter, Kota Banks and Hi Life.
CHRISTMAS CHEER While it was sad news this week that the December 22 indie music festival Turn Up The Sun was cancelled due to poor ticket sales, another major show is coming for the Christmas period. The official announcement is due next week and it’s a beauty.
