The Brisbane band, who have officially expanded to a three-piece with touring guitarist Lachlan Ewbank joining the line-up in the studio, last played in Newcastle in May when they sold out the Cambridge Hotel.
Since then their third album Bloody Lovely has received an ARIA nomination, they performed with original Red Wiggle Murray Cook at Splendour In The Grass and their song Like People finished second behind US rapper Childish Gambino in Rage’s countdown of the best video clips of 2018.
Rising Canberra grunge band Moaning Lisa will join DZ Deathrays for their University Of Newcastle show.
HOPE IN STORER
ARIA and 21-time Golden Guitar award-winning artist Sara Storer has literally written an album to inspire rain and bring relief to drought-affected farmers.
Storer’s seventh album Raindance will be released on April 12, following the lead single and title track which dropped last week.
The album was produced by fellow country star Shane Nicholson in his Central Coast studio and aims to create hope for rural people struggling on the land.
“It also sends a message of coming together through dance and song,” Storer said. “Music is great therapy and while our nation waits on rain, let’s dance and sing this drought away.”
Newcastle fans will have a chance to hear tracks from Raindance before its release when Storer performs at Lizotte’s on March 17.
ANGRY CARRIES ON
ROSE Tattoo have announced their first shows since the youngest son of frontman Angry Anderson was allegedly murdered.
Liam Anderson, 26, died in November after he was allegedly bashed and stomped in a Queenscliff park by his friend Matthew Flame, 20. Flame has been charged with murder and will face court on January 29.
Over the Christmas break Angry Anderson thanked fans on his Facebook page for their support in his family’s “darkest hour.”
Rose Tattoo have roped in fellow pub rockers The Hard-Ons for the Still Never Too Loud Tour, which begins in Sydney on March 23.
Catch them at the Cambridge Hotel on May 4.
