FRESH IDEA Troy Rhoades-Brown of Muse fame is one of four acclaimed chefs lending their talents to a series of special monthly dinners at stunning waterfront Ettalong restaurant A Box On The Water. On March 1 and 2 chef Martin Boetz will create a four-course Thai-inspired menu with optional paired wines. Although of German descent, Boetz is considered one of the world's most accomplished Thai chefs. He was a former partner and executive chef at the Evergreen Longrain restaurant in Sydney and Melbourne. Tickets cost $85 per person; $40 optional wine pairing. FARM VISIT Grace Springs Farm on George Downes Drive, Kulnura, has introduced tours of their small-scale, chemical-free farm. In addition to watching the cows being milked and the animals fed, fresh produce is available for sale. Tickets are $16.50 per person for guests two years and over.
ACTOR AND COOK Lochinvar's own Abbie Cornish is releasing a cook book with her best friend, chef Jacqueline King. The story goes that Cornish asked King - a graduate of the culinary program at the National Gourmet Institute - for cooking lessons. Every Sunday they would visit the local farmers’ market, spend all day cooking and then serve these dishes to their family and friends. Pescan is about the food they explored together: plant-based, dairy-free dishes with high-protein seafood and eggs incorporated. Recipes include Veggie Tempeh Bolognese, Artichoke Hummus with Za’atar and Miso-Ginger Glazed Black Cod. For those not in the know, Cornish is an actor who resides in Los Angeles and most recently starred in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Just last week she got engaged to Iraqi MMA fighter Adel Altamimi, who was once held hostage by Al-Qaeda. Pescan: A Feel Good Cookbook is due for release in late March.
