The bypass was completely closed off between Myall Road and Carnley Avenue until around 10.30am on Sunday as emergency services, utility crews and Roads and Maritime Services cleared the site.
All lanes, except one southbound lane, were re-opened by 1pm.
The car crashed into a pole near the Myall Road off ramp at around 8.30am that morning.
Paramedics said they treated a 30-year-old man for neck, back and knee injuries on the scene.
He was taken to John Hunter Hospital, by ambulance, in a stable condition.
A spokesperson for Traffic NSW said the crash caused a pole and power lines to fall down near the stretch of road.
Traffic lights were blacked out in the area until about 1pm as a result of the power outage.
The spokesperson said that, as of 2.20pm on Sunday, all lanes on the road were open and traffic lights in teh area were working again.
The damaged pole would be replaced on Monday, she said.
