Kennedy played 159 A-League matches and won the Jets (2011-12) and Central Coast (2016-17) player of the year awards but he has not gained a new deal at the Mariners, where he has played the past two seasons.
The 32-year-old spoke to the Newcastle Herald this month about starting his own goalkeeping academy and life after professional football.
The second window for NNSW NPL player points system roster changes closes on Wednesday and Lambton appear likely to add Kennedy.
The Jaffas are fifth, just two points outside the top four with eight games to play.
The potential recruitment of Kennedy to join incumbent gloveman Brad Swancott will give the Jaffas arguably the best two keepers in the competition.
** A rumour doing the rounds for longer is that Broadmeadow coach Ruben Zadkovich may pick up a coaching role in the A-League, potentially with former club Sydney FC.
The former Jets skipper and Socceroo is in his third season as coach of Broadmeadow, who he took to the round of 16 in the FFA Cup and NPL grand final victory last year. He played 41 games for Sydney from 2006 to 2008
** The August 10-11 spare weekend is almost full after the Hamilton v Broadmeadow washout on Saturday.
That game will now be played on August 11 along with Charlestown v Jets Youth, Maitland v Valentine and Lakes v Lambton. Let's hope it doesn't rain that day.
