The 10-year-old gelding, a $26 chance, lifted late to claim the last race at Newcastle on Saturday night by a nose to give Forrest and connections a welcomed respite after a traumatic week.
It was just a third win in 88 starts for Tyco, which Forrest trains for her cousin Mark Forrest and his wife, Cora. Forrest took over the training of Tyco from her cousin in August when he injured his shoulder playing football.
In the week before the victory, the owners had mourned a death in their family, while Forrest had battled bushfires when her Paterson property was under threat.
"It was a pretty emotional win because the owners had a death in the family, just 21 years old, and the funeral was on the Wednesday before," Forrest said.
"So I think the win was a little bit of divine intervention.
"And the same week we had to run across the road and help the neighbour save his house, and if he had of lost his house, we would have lost ours, so it was pretty close."
Andrew Bourke drove Tyco to the close win and he will be aboard again on Friday night in race three from gate five.
Last week's victory was just a second for Forrest as a trainer, after she renewed her licence in past three years.
"It's a little bit harder tomorrow night, but you never know," she said.
"He's healthy and he's happy, and anything can happen."
