A Windale man will front court next month after allegedly throwing rocks at police in Gateshead.
Police said the 26-year-old was swearing and throwing rocks at them after refusing to leave a licensed premises on the Pacific Highway just before 1am on Saturday.
Police will allege the man attempted to encourage bystanders to assault officers before fleeing the scene.
He was arrested a short time later following a brief struggle.

The Windale man was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with excluded person fail to leave premises when required, excluded person re-enter/attempt to re-enter premises, resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, and affray.
He was bailed to appear at Belmont Local Court on July 29.
The incident comes after NSW Police Minister David Elliott called for an urgent inquiry into assaults on police after a spate of violence and abuse towards officers in the Hunter and Central Coast in the past week and a half.
