Ibini has been on stress leave after the Jets refused to release the 28-year-old from the final year of his contract.
Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) players union are acting as mediator between the two parties.
Ibini's agent James Hardy told the Newcastle Herald on Tuesday that his client would be on deck for training.
"Bernie is being advised by the PFA, whom are ensuring he meets all his legal obligations as per contract," Hardy said. "Bernie will continue to honour his contract and both myself and the PFA are actively communicating to try to negotiate a way forward."
Ibini's desire to leave the Jets remains as strong as ever.
Likewise, the Jets resolve to keep him has not wavered.
"As I have stated previously, Bernie is contracted until the end of the season and we expect him to fulfil that contract," Jets chief executive McKinna said.
Ibini's presence at training will be welcomed by the players after Roy O'Donovan on Monday urged his striker partner to "see some sense" and rejoin the group.
"I hope he sees some sense, comes back to training and we can start scoring some goals," O'Donovan said. "He is a good player, he is a good lad and we want him here."
McKinna said once Ibini's doctor had signed off on the medical certificate for him to resume training, the attacker would be eased back in.
"Bernie will be treated like any other player," McKinna said. "He has missed 10 days of training so he will need to work his way back. His fitness will be way behind everyone else.
"Jack Simmons was unable to train fully for a week because of HSC exams and he was eased back in. It will be the same for Bernie.
"He wouldn't be considered for the match against Edgeworth on Saturday. He may be okay to take part in the game against Macarthur [at Maitland] next Thursday."
Trialists Valentino Yuel, who was outstanding off the bench in the 2-0 trial loss to the Mariners, Antony Burke and Jack Armson have started their second week of training and are likely to feature against Edgeworth at Jack McLaughlan Oval.
Jack Duncan is continuing to train with the Jets but Jeremy Brockie has returned to Townsville.
The Jets are unlikely to sign players until a new coach is in place.
McKinna was in Coffs Harbour on Tuesday for the announcement of a friendly against Brisbane Roar on December 12.
