UPPER Hunter residents have reported feeling tremors around Muswellbrook on Sunday night, with Geoscience Australia confirming an earthquake was registered.

At about 8.40pm a quake measuring 3.6 magnitude was recorded just outside of the Mount Arthur Coal Mine property. The location of the epicentre can be seen on the map above.
Several monitoring stations across the state picked up the tremors, which were only recorded at the depth of one kilometre.
More than 150 people reportedly contacted Geoscience Australia to register having felt the quake.
