Sammy Silvera cut inside and unleased a wicked left-foot thunderbolt which arched around the defence and beat everything bar the crossbar.
A worldie in the dying stages of the first half in the Jets' 2-all draw with Macarthur would have been a fitting exclamation mark on an eye-catching display by Silvera.
Such are the fine margins between success and disappointment in the A-League.
Starting just his second game, the winger ran riot. He took on defenders, won fouls and created opportunities with his pace and direct play.
Apart from hitting the crossbar, he had a strong claim for a penalty after being collected by Macarthur keeper Filip Kurto, who rushed out and dove at the feet of the Jets flyer. But referee Adam Kersley ruled the keeper got all ball.
It has been that type of season for Silvera, who joined the Jets on loan after an injury-stalled first season in Portugal at Paos de Ferreira.
In 11 appearances - mainly used as an impact player in the final 20 minutes - the 21-year-old has threatened but is yet to notch a goal or an assist.
Coach Arthur Papas has the utmost faith that Silvera will soon correct those statistics.
"I know what Sammy's level is," Papas said after the Macarthur draw.
"For him, it is about consistency, working hard and getting outcomes. He got himself into some really good positions and possibly could have set up one and scored one as well. He has the talent and you have to get the consistency to match it to always be at your best level."
Overall, Papas will want more positive outcomes from all his wide men.
Valentino Yuel, who has started in six of 11 appearances, has four goals and two assists, but Olivier Boumal (one goal, two assists) and Savass Siatravanis (zero goals and assists) haven't had the return that some of their football has warranted.
Converting chances will be essential when the Jets take on league leader Western United in Ballarat on Saturday.
Marshalled at the back by former Jet Nikolai Topor-Stanley and Swiss tall timber Leo Lacroix, Western have the most clean sheets with eight and are unbeaten in a club-record seven games.
.John Aloisi's side has also now surpassed their win total from the 2020-21 campaign with nine in just 14 games and their 29 points are one greater than the total they achieved in 26 games last season.
